Serving guests since 1994, Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch prides itself on providing a high level of personalized service; large, well-trained registered horses; clean, comfortable accommodations; and the area's 'hot spot' where Champion Bull Riders from the PRCA and the PBR come to ride.  Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch is the ideal setting for church, scout and other small groups to escape. Equestrian Campground

CAMPING SEASON May 1 - October 15

Hot showers, toilets, and dump station available when staying in the campground. 

Leashed pets are welcome!! 

Our equestrian trails leave directly from the campground and vary from 2 hour to 6 hour loops. 

Our trail terrain is moderate rolling hills, mostly old shale based logging roads with creek crossings and is suitable for beginning to intermediate riders.

Hookup Sites - Enjoy our spacious level sites.  Sites 1 - 16 are in our wooded area and sites 17 - 30 are in our open field area.  All sites have gravel pads with water and 30 amp electric hookups.

Seasonal Hookup Site - Including Water - Electric is metered customer pays only for usage

Primitive Camping - 50 acres available for Tent and self contained RV, choose your own site upon arrival!

Each unit is complete with flush toilet, shower, sink with vanity and mirror, changing bench, clothing hooks, and electrical outlets.  Available to all primitive, hookup, and cabin customers.

New Log Cabin - (sleeps 5)
New log sided park model cabin comes fully furnished, queen bed, 3 twins, and sofa, ready to cook kitchen with cookware, utensils, toaster, microwave, coffee pot, bathroom w/shower, air conditioning, 8X10 deck w/ table and chairs, fire pit, and horse turnout available nearby.  Bedding & towels NOT provided.                    

Week-end...........$250  Check in 6 pm Friday, Check out noon Sunday

New Bunkhouse - (sleeps 4)                                                                                                                                                                                                                 New bunkhouse, tongue and groove pine inside, 4 twin beds, sofa, table and chairs, small dorm-style refrigerator/freezer with microwave, coffee pot, fire pit, and horse turnout available nearby.  Full use of 4-unit shower house located nearby.  Bedding & towels NOT provided.

*All rates subject to 6% PA Sales Tax, 3% County Lodging Tax.  Bedding and towels are not included.  Renters are responsible for Cabin or Bunkhouse and contents while leased.  A 25% deposit is required to hold your reservation and must be received within seven (7) days of booking.                                                                                                           

Trail Riding


At Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch you'll ride a better horse. Our large, registered animals are well-trained, well-fed and well-conditioned. We're proud of the quality of our horses and and tack. Our custom made leather saddles, equipped with the Bradford STI Break-away stirrups, have been carefully selected with your comfort and safety in mind.

At Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch we emphasize small group rides with personalized attention. Our rides will generally depart early morning and early evening to enhance both the enjoyment of horse and rider and to allow for optimum viewing of wildlife.

For the novice rider, basic skills will be taught by one of our qualified wranglers.

Experienced Guides accompany all rides.

Children must be seven years old to ride, one rider per horse, and there is a 230 pound weight limit to ride. 

Two hour minimum.

Rides Scheduled by Reservation Only with credit card required. 

A $5 per horse saddling fee will be imposed for all late cancellations (four hours or less) or no show

From the south, Tionesta, Pa, take US Route 62N towards Tidioute, Pennsylvania (approximately 14 miles).  The Tidioute Trading Post, The Cove Restaurant and Moore's Garden Center will be on the left, directly across from the garden center is State Route 337 (now route 3005).  Take a right onto State Route 337 and travel north (approximately 4 miles toward Warren PA.) Turn right on the Economite Road (township 317).  The first drive on the right-hand side of the road (approximately 3/10 of a mile) is the Arena and Stable entrance.  The second drive on the right-hand side is the campground entrance.

From the north, Warren, Pa, take US Route 6W to US Route 62S towards Tidioute, Pennsylvania (approximately 15 miles).  Just past Route 127 (Big Blue Bridge), take a left onto State Route 337 directly across from Moore's Garden Center.  Travel north on Route 337 (approximately 4 miles toward Warren PA.) Turn right on the Economite Road (township 317).  The first drive on the right-hand side of the road (approximately 3/10 of a mile) is the Arena and Stable entrance.  The second drive on the right-hand side is the campground entrance.

We are conveniently located and just a short drive from the following major cities:

Area Activities

Our Area ~ Located on the western edge of the Allegheny National Forest, four miles North of Tidioute, Pennsylvania, our 150+ acre ranch is just a stone's throw away from the only congressionally designated wilderness in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania...The Hickory Creek Wilderness Area. Encompassing 8663 acres, this pristine area abounds with many species of wildlife including: white-tailed deer, coyotes, eagles, wild turkeys and black bear.
